The section help with using the online catalogue provides detailed information on how to use the online catalogue.
Browser:
Our software developer has specified Internet-Explorer 6.0 or higher and Firefox 2.0 or higher, but in our experience the online catalogue also works with most other browsers and older versions.

Please make sure that you have entered your library card number (including "SBW"; case sensitive!) and your date of birth in the format dd.mm.yyyy, e.g. 01.01.1975 (make sure you include the zeros and periods between day and month and month and year).
If you still experience problems logging in, please send us your query directly via our feedback form. This is due to a session timeout, which is typical of Internet applications (see e.g. Internet banking applications).
When you access our online catalogue, you will be automatically logged into your own session. After a certain period of inactivity (timeout) the session is terminated automatically and the online catalogue is reloaded.OPAC stands for Online Public Access Catalogue and, in a library context, is used to refer to online catalogues as well as to work stations with access to an online catalogue.
WebOPAC is the name of the software developed by B.O.N.D. , which the Vienna Public Libraries use as their online catalogue. At the moment, incompatibilities with our online catalogue may occur if you have installed .NET Framework 3.0 and are using Internet Explorer. This bug will have been fixed in the new version of the online catalogue, which will be launched shortly. In the meantime users with .NET Framework 3.0 may access the online catalogue using other browsers (e.g. Firefox).
Unfortunately no such version is available yet. You may go to http://userstyles.org/styles/21774 and download a style to your terminal via the Firefox-add-on Stylish to improve colour contrast, which makes the contents easier to read for visually impaired users. We would like to thank Mr. Deak for this tip. Unfortunately this does not work with all browsers!
However, we are working intensively towards offering a barrier-free version of our online catalogue soon!
Should no data be loaded for the detailed display when navigating through the online catalogue, you are probably using Internet Explorer and have deactivated the option "Subframes zwischen verschiedenen Domänen bewegen". Please activate this option by going to Extras -> Internetoptionen -> Sicherheit -> Internet-> Stufe anpassen.
Please send us your query via the feedback form. We will contact you as soon as possible.
