If you've visited our library since it reopened in the spring of 2009, you will have noticed that quite a few things have changed, and we're not just talking about a bit of colour on the walls and the long overdue new curtains.

Our branch has undergone a truly comprehensive renovation process: from the newly arranged rooms that seem to have magically grown in size to the newly acquired self-service machines that no less magically communicate with you when you trust them to check out your items. Just as remarkable, but maybe not as noticeable at first sight, are our newly extended opening hours.

What has remained the same is everything that was already good prior to the renovation process: our excellent city location between the Freihaus quarter, a trendy district if the cool folks of Vienna are to be believed, and the Theresianum Academy, another cool address and excellent residential area. In prestigious urban areas of this sort, the lack of parking is almost considered an asset. Anyway, we're still within easy reach of public transport links, and we have also kept our sizeable inventory and areas of specialisation, for instance a collection of detective novels and a selection of travel literature that is appreciated all over Vienna.

The 13 languages of the transparent foil-stickers on our window fronts are of course also spoken inside the library – if not actually by the staff members, most definitely by the visitors who come from all over the globe. Talking of transparency: Although we like to impress our visitors with sparkling clean windows, we have decided to take a less meticulous approach and stuck some foil on our glass entrance, thereby raising the chance of you making your way into the library without a sore head.
