Young people are of particular value to us. That is why we keep them in a safe place. Indeed, our library used to be a branch bank, but the only thing that we still have in common with a bank is the bank vault, which now accommodates the youth library. Well, and maybe the excellent ventilation system and the entrance, which might seem a bit unusual for a library (with its classical sliding glass doors used by banks to signal that all of their operations are smooth and transparent).

Apart from that, the premises have been fully adjusted to meet the needs of a modern library. The word modern may not only be used for our premises but of course also with reference to our main focuses, which are based on the specific expert knowledge or keen passions of our librarians – be it health, outdoor sports, or our new emphasis on "alternatives" (eco-topics, globalisation etc.).

We are also involved in the organisation of events, including our popular story afternoons for children during the school year and the "Ferienspiel" in the summer months. Once a month, there is an event for adults. We have reason to believe that the wine and the nibbles that are offered at these events are not the only reason for the remarkable visitor frequency.

All that and our good location at Liesinger Platz, the traffic hub of a very large catchment area, guarantee a visitor frequency high enough to call for another expansion of the premises. Well, almost – but we decided that a second bank vault would be a bit too overboard.
